Pond Installation falls into three categories:
- Koi Ponds
A Koi pond is a pond intended for the sole interest in keeping Koi. These ponds should be at least 3000 gallons of well-oxygenated water and are at least 3 to 6 feet deep. They must contain ample and advanced filtration. They can be built somewhat smaller but one must keep in mind that at that point the pond can only hold a “few” fish. Regardless of the size, they are in my opinion the most enjoyable pond to have. - Water Gardens
The water garden or garden pond is a pond that is designed to hold multiple aquatic plants and hardy goldfish. They can be for the purpose of showcasing various and exotic flowers whether they are Marginal Plants, Lotus or Water Lilies. Garden ponds are generally only 24 to 36 inches deep and can be of large width and length. These ponds are not geared for Koi because of their shallow depth, lack of filtration and especially because Koi love to devour aquatic plants. - Aquatic Features
An aquatic feature is the presence of water of some kind such as a pondless waterfall, fountain, or a tiny pool containing only a few water plants. They are most beautiful as an accent next to an entrance, back yard living space, or just tucked away in your garden.
